MANILA – The Peninsula Manila and Nay Palad Hideaway were listed in the Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Gold List of best hotels and resorts in the world.
This is the first time The Peninsula Manila, a 5-star hotel in Makati City, received the international accolade, serving as one of the most prestigious editorial honors in global luxury travel.
“This recognition reflects the timeless elegance, history, and hospitality that have made our hotel a cherished part of life in Manila for almost 50 years,” Kevin Tsang, Managing Director of The Peninsula Manila, said in a statement forwarded on Thursday.
“The Gold List represents places the editors genuinely love and confidently recommend. To be included is deeply meaningful, as it affirms the kind of experiences we strive to create every day. Experiences that are authentic, gracious, thoughtful, and grounded in a genuine sense of belonging,” he added.
In his review of The Peninsula Manila, Condé Nast Traveler Associate Editor Matt Ortile highlighted the personal connection that many Filipinos have with the property: “Almost every Manileño I know has a story to tell about Manila Pen, as we call it. The Peninsula Manila belongs to everyone, I know that. Perhaps what I feel is that I belong only to Manila Pen.”
Siargao Island’s Nay Palad Hideaway, meanwhile, is labelled as an “all-inclusive island getaway” for travelers looking for an “ultimate R&R destination.”
“As one of the few true luxury resorts in the Philippines, Nay Palad Hideaway delivers a whimsical and welcome alternative to the straight-lined beach resorts dominating much of Southeast Asia,” the Conde Nast Traveler’s review read.
“Its all-inclusive concept means there’s no fussing about signing bills after lunch or scanning the activities list for prices, which sets the tone for a proper toes-in-the-sand break on one of the country’s prettiest islands,” it added.
Hotels and resorts included on the Conde Nast Traveler Gold List are distinguished by exceptional service and staff dedication, a strong sense of character and history, memorable experiences across dining, wellness, and family hospitality, and an enduring emotional resonance.
The full list of winners will be published in the January/February 2026 print issue of the Condé Nast Traveler and has been available online at the Condé Nast Traveler website since December 15, 2025. (PNA)
